# General Questions

# Can I install PanelAlpha on my own server?

Yes, PanelAlpha is delivered as a self-hosted application, so you need to install it on your own server.

# Does PanelAlpha require cPanel?

PanelAlpha operates independently of cPanel or any other auto-installer, thus eliminating the need for a cPanel server to effectively manage the automated instance creation process.

# Does PanelAlpha require Softaculous?

PanelAlpha has no dependencies with Softaculous or any other auto-installer, and as such it does not require it to properly handle the automated process of instance creation.

# Does PanelAlpha require WHMCS?

PanelAlpha is a standalone solution, which makes its operation separate from any type of a client management platform. It can, however, be integrated with WHMCS to let you handle the billing and invoicing workflows in an automated manner.

# How can I set up billing for my clients?

PanelAlpha does not take care of direct customer billing and invoicing so you have to either use one of our billing modules (currently integrated with WHMCS only) or integrate with our API. For the details about the available billing scenarios please read the following article.
